Blackbird Singing

Mother and child      Oil on linen
The Song     Oil on Linen

detail     The Song

In the front yard today was a flegling Blackbird.  Mother and child sang and called to each other all afternoon.

How could I not paint them!

Father seemed to be the main forager, feeding the child, no doubt the worms from my compost that is nearly matured in the backyard.

The pleasure I had from the afternoon serenade was worth the loss of the worms in my garden. Though poor worms had no say in the matter!
